In commit 47b7e7f828, this bit was removed at the same time the
RT6_LOOKUP_F_IFACE flag was removed. However, it is needed when
link-local addresses are used, which is a very common case: when
packets are routed, neighbor solicitations are done using link-local
addresses. For example, the following neighbor solicitation is not
matched by "-m rpfilter":

Commit 47b7e7f828 doesn't quite explain why we shouldn't use
RT6_LOOKUP_F_IFACE in the rpfilter case. I suppose the interface check
later in the function would make it redundant. However, the remaining
of the routing code is using RT6_LOOKUP_F_IFACE when there is no
source address (which matches rpfilter's case with a non-unicast
destination, like with neighbor solicitation).

skb_header_pointer will copy data into a buffer if data is non linear,
otherwise it will return a pointer in the linear section of the data.
nf_sk_lookup_slow_v{4,6} always copies data of size udphdr but later
accesses memory within the size of tcphdr (th->doff) in case of TCP
packets. This causes a crash when running with KASAN with the following
call stack -

Failures were seen in ICMPv6 fragmentation timeout tests if they were
run after the RFC2460 failure tests. Kernel was not sending out the
ICMPv6 fragment reassembly time exceeded packet after the fragmentation
reassembly timeout of 1 minute had elapsed.
This happened because the frag queue was not released if an error in
IPv6 fragmentation header was detected by RFC2460.

ipv6_defrag pulls network headers before fragment header. In case of
an error, the netfilter layer is currently dropping these packets.
This results in failure of some IPv6 standards tests which passed on
older kernels due to the netfilter framework using cloning.
The test case run here is a check for ICMPv6 error message replies
when some invalid IPv6 fragments are sent. This specific test case is
listed in https://www.ipv6ready.org/docs/Core_Conformance_Latest.pdf
in the Extension Header Processing Order section.
A packet with unrecognized option Type 11 is sent and the test expects
an ICMP error in line with RFC2460 section 4.2 -
11 - discard the packet and, only if the packet's Destination
Address was not a multicast address, send an ICMP Parameter
Problem, Code 2, message to the packet's Source Address,
pointing to the unrecognized Option Type.
Since netfilter layer now drops all invalid IPv6 frag packets, we no
longer see the ICMP error message and fail the test case.
To fix this, save the transport header. If defrag is unable to process
the packet due to RFC2460, restore the transport header and allow packet
to be processed by stack. There is no change for other packet
processing paths.
Tested by confirming that stack sends an ICMP error when it receives
these packets. Also tested that fragmented ICMP pings succeed.
v1->v2: Instead of cloning always, save the transport_header and
restore it in case of this specific error. Update the title and
commit message accordingly.

The rationale for removing the check is only correct for rulesets
generated by ip(6)tables.
In iptables, a jump can only occur to a user-defined chain, i.e.
because we size the stack based on number of user-defined chains we
cannot exceed stack size.
However, the underlying binary format has no such restriction,
and the validation step only ensures that the jump target is a
valid rule start point.
IOW, its possible to build a rule blob that has no user-defined
chains but does contain a jump.
If this happens, no jump stack gets allocated and crash occurs
because no jumpstack was allocated.

The problem, as Florian noted, is that nf_setsockopt() is always
called with the socket held, even if the lock itself is required only
for very tight scopes and only for some operation.
This patch addresses the issues moving the lock_sock() call only
where really needed, namely in ipv*_getorigdst(), so that nf_setsockopt()
does not need anymore to acquire both locks.

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

In function {ipv4,ipv6}_synproxy_hook we expect a normal tcp packet, but
the real server maybe reply an icmp error packet related to the exist
tcp conntrack, so we will access wrong tcp data.
Fix it by checking for the protocol field and only process tcp traffic.

When enabling logging for invalid connections we currently also log most
icmpv6 types, which we don't track intentionally (e.g. neigh discovery).
"invalid" should really mean "invalid", i.e. short header or bad checksum.
We don't do any logging for icmp(v4) either, its just useless noise.

Discussion during NFWS 2017 in Faro has shown that the current
conntrack behaviour is unreasonable.
Even if conntrack module is loaded on behalf of a single net namespace,
its turned on for all namespaces, which is expensive. Commit
481fa37347 ("netfilter: conntrack: add nf_conntrack_default_on sysctl")
attempted to provide an alternative to the 'default on' behaviour by
adding a sysctl to change it.
However, as Eric points out, the sysctl only becomes available
once the module is loaded, and then its too late.
So we either have to move the sysctl to the core, or, alternatively,
change conntrack to become active only once the rule set requires this.
This does the latter, conntrack is only enabled when a rule needs it.

This is a preparatory patch for adding fib support to the netdev family.
The netdev family receives the packets from ingress hook. At this point
we have no guarantee that the ip header is linear. So this patch
replaces ip_hdr with skb_header_pointer in order to address that
possible situation.

It seems like a historic accident that these return unsigned char *,
and in many places that means casts are required, more often than not.
Make these functions (skb_put, __skb_put and pskb_put) return void *
and remove all the casts across the tree, adding a (u8 *) cast only
where the unsigned char pointer was used directly, all done with the
following spatch:

There are several places where we needlesly call nf_ct_iterate_cleanup,
we should instead iterate the full table at module unload time.
This is a leftover from back when the conntrack table got duplicated
per net namespace.
So rename nf_ct_iterate_cleanup to nf_ct_iterate_cleanup_net.
A later patch will then add a non-net variant.

This bit was introduced with commit 5a21232983 ("net: Support for
csum_bad in skbuff") to reduce the stack workload when processing RX
packets carrying a wrong Internet Checksum. Up to now, only one driver and
GRO core are setting it.

Currently the nat extension is always attached as soon as nat module is
loaded. However, most NAT uses do not need the nat extension anymore.
Prepare to remove the add-nat-by-default by making those places that need
it attach it if its not present yet.

Current SYNPROXY codes return NF_DROP during normal TCP handshaking,
it is not friendly to caller. Because the nf_hook_slow would treat
the NF_DROP as an error, and return -EPERM.
As a result, it may cause the top caller think it meets one error.
For example, the following codes are from cfv_rx_poll()

When SYNPROXY returns NF_DROP, then netif_receive_skb returns -EPERM.
As a result, the cfv driver would treat it as an error, and increase
the rx_dropped counter.
So use NF_STOLEN instead of NF_DROP now because there is no error
happened indeed, and free the skb directly.

When recalculating the outer ICMPv6 checksum for a reverse path NATv6
such as ICMPV6_TIME_EXCEED nf_nat_icmpv6_reply_translation() was
accessing data beyond the headlen of the skb for non-linear skb. This
resulted in incorrect ICMPv6 checksum as garbage data was used.
Patch replaces csum_partial() with skb_checksum() which supports
non-linear skbs similar to nf_nat_icmp_reply_translation() from ipv4.

resurrect an old patch from Pablo Neira to remove the untracked objects.
Currently, there are four possible states of an skb wrt. conntrack.
1. No conntrack attached, ct is NULL.
2. Normal (kmem cache allocated) ct attached.
3. a template (kmalloc'd), not in any hash tables at any point in time
4. the 'untracked' conntrack, a percpu nf_conn object, tagged via
IPS_UNTRACKED_BIT in ct->status.
Untracked is supposed to be identical to case 1. It exists only
so users can check
-m conntrack --ctstate UNTRACKED vs.
-m conntrack --ctstate INVALID
e.g. attempts to set connmark on INVALID or UNTRACKED conntracks is
supposed to be a no-op.
Thus currently we need to check
ct == NULL || nf_ct_is_untracked(ct)
in a lot of places in order to avoid altering untracked objects.
The other consequence of the percpu untracked object is that all
-j NOTRACK (and, later, kfree_skb of such skbs) result in an atomic op
(inc/dec the untracked conntracks refcount).
This adds a new kernel-private ctinfo state, IP_CT_UNTRACKED, to
make the distinction instead.
The (few) places that care about packet invalid (ct is NULL) vs.
packet untracked now need to test ct == NULL vs. ctinfo == IP_CT_UNTRACKED,
but all other places can omit the nf_ct_is_untracked() check.

Currently, there are two different methods to store an u16 integer to
the u32 data register. For example:

1. *dest = 0; *(u16 *) dest = val_u16;
2. *dest = val_u16;
For method 1, the u16 value will be stored like this, either in
big-endian or little-endian system:

For method 2, in little-endian system, the u16 value will be the same
as listed above. But in big-endian system, the u16 value will be stored

So later we use "memcmp(®s->data[priv->sreg], data, 2);" to do
compare in nft_cmp, nft_lookup expr ..., method 2 will get the wrong
result in big-endian system, as 0~15 bits will always be zero.
For the similar reason, when loading an u16 value from the u32 data
register, we should use "*(u16 *) sreg;" instead of "(u16)*sreg;",
the 2nd method will get the wrong value in the big-endian system.
So introduce some wrapper functions to store/load an u8 or u16
integer to/from the u32 data register, and use them in the right
place.

Commit 69b34fb996 ("netfilter: xt_LOG: add net namespace support for
xt_LOG") disabled logging packets using the LOG target from non-init
namespaces. The motivation was to prevent containers from flooding
kernel log of the host. The plan was to keep it that way until syslog
namespace implementation allows containers to log in a safe way.
However, the work on syslog namespace seems to have hit a dead end
somewhere in 2013 and there are users who want to use xt_LOG in all
network namespaces. This patch allows to do so by setting
/proc/sys/net/netfilter/nf_log_all_netns
to a nonzero value. This sysctl is only accessible from init_net so that
one cannot switch the behaviour from inside a container.
