17baaa1f95 ASoC: SOF: core: Add probe_early and remove_late callbacks
The existing DSP probe may be handled in a workqueue to allow for
extra time, typically for the i915 request_module and HDAudio codec
handling.

With the upcoming changes for i915/Xe driver relying on the
-EPROBE_DEFER mechanism, we need to have a first pass of the probe
which cannot be pushed to a workqueue. Introduce 2 new optional
callbacks.

probe_early is called before the workqueue runs. remove_late may be
called from the workqueue if load is unsuccesful, but will otherwise
be called on module unload.

d389dcb3a4 ASoC: SOF: core: Free the firmware trace before calling snd_sof_shutdown()
The shutdown is called on reboot/shutdown of the machine.
At this point the firmware tracing cannot be used anymore but in case of
IPC3 it is using and keeping a DMA channel active (dtrace).

For Tiger Lake platforms we have a quirk in place to fix rare reboot issues
when a DMA was active before rebooting the system.
If the tracing is enabled this quirk will be always used and a print
appears on the kernel log which might be misleading or not even correct.

Release the fw tracing before executing the shutdown to make sure that this
known DMA user is cleared away.

The DSPless mode of the ASoC/SOF driver can be used for hardware

still needed on existing platforms for SSP, DMIC, SoundWire interfaces

This mode is also helpful to compare the legacy HDaudio driver with the
ASoC/SOF driver wrt. codec management and handling. In theory we use the
same code but differences are sometimes seen on jack detection and event
handling.

856601e5a7 ASoC: SOF: remove const qualifier for 'struct snd_sof_dsp_ops'
Now that we start having multiple platforms with minor variants, the
use of the const qualifier for 'dsp_ops' is starting to be

patches, the dsp_ops will revisited for Intel HDaudio platforms, with
the differences added programmatically over a common baseline.

6955d9512d ASoC: SOF: Introduce IPC SOF client support
A client in the SOF (Sound Open Firmware) context is a driver that needs
to communicate with the DSP via IPC messages. The SOF core is responsible
for serializing the IPC messages to the DSP from the different clients.

One example of an SOF client would be an IPC test client that floods the
DSP with test IPC messages to validate if the serialization works as
expected.

Multi-client support will also add the ability to split the existing audio
cards into multiple ones, so as to e.g. to deal with HDMI with a dedicated
client instead of adding HDMI to all cards.

This patch introduces descriptors for SOF client driver and SOF client
device along with APIs for registering and unregistering a SOF client
driver, sending IPCs from a client device and accessing the SOF core
debugfs root entry.

Along with this, add a couple of new members to struct snd_sof_dev that
will be used for maintaining the list of clients.

8e0850f98d Merge series "ASoC: SOF: Clean up the probe support" from Peter Ujfalusi <peter.ujfalusi@linux.intel.com>:
Hi,

The probe debug feature of SOF can be used to extract streams of data from a
given point of a pipeline for analysis.

The support is implemented by using the ALSA/ASoC compress support for the
capture stream, but the code can not be used by/for a normal compressed data
stream. It is a debug feature.

Merge the probe implementation in the core (compress.c/h and probe.c/h) into
one file: sof-probes.c/h

Rename the Intel HDA specific probe implementation from hda-compressc.c to
hda-probes.c

We also need to add IPC logging support for the probes messages and drop the
unused references to SOF compress to have reasonably clean code.

Regards,
Peter

8a8e1813ff ASoC: SOF: loader: release_firmware() on load failure to avoid batching
Invoke release_firmware() when the firmware fails to boot in
sof_probe_continue().

The request_firmware() framework must be informed of failures in
sof_probe_continue() otherwise its internal "batching"
feature (different from caching) cached the firmware image
forever. Attempts to correct the file in /lib/firmware/ were then
silently and confusingly ignored until the next reboot. Unloading the
drivers did not help because from their disconnected perspective the
firmware had failed so there was nothing to release.

Also leverage the new snd_sof_fw_unload() function to simplify the
snd_sof_device_remove() function.

6ade849e30 ASoC: SOF: core: allow module parameter to override dma trace Kconfig
Most distributions do not enable the SOF developer options and

Conversely in rare cases the DMA trace can lead to Heisenbugs by
creating more traffic to system memory and more interrupts.

This patch changes the logic so that the Kconfig value is used as a
default value for a module parameter, but this value can be changed as
needed. Users can override the distro DMA trace selection.

271d9373db ASoC: SOF: fix runtime pm usage mismatch after probe errors
With current delayed probe implementation, sof_probe_complete is not
called in case of errors. And as this function is responsible for
decrementing runtime pm usage counter, this will result in following
problem:

 - probe driver in conditions where probe will fail (to force
the condition on Intel SOF systems, set
   "snd_sof_intel_hda_common.codec_mask=0")
 - unload driver (runtime-pm usage_count is leaked)
 - fix the issue by installing missing fw, modifying module parameters,
   etc actions
 - try to load driver again -> success, probe ok
-> device never enters runtime suspend

Fix the issue by storing result of delayed probe to a state variable and
providing new snd_sof_device_probe_completed() to be queried from SOF
PCI/ACPI/OF drivers.

If probe never completed successfully, runtime PM was not set up and
thus at remove(), we should not increment usage count anymore.
