With the addition of simple mathematical operations (plus and minus), the parsing of the "sym-offset" modifier broke, as it took the '-' part of the "sym-offset" as a minus, and tried to break it up into a mathematical operation of "field.sym - offset", in which case it failed to parse (unless the event had a field called "offset"). Both .sym and .sym-offset modifiers should not be entered into mathematical calculations anyway. If ".sym-offset" is found in the modifier, then simply make it not an operation that can be calculated on. be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
