Variables slope and offset are being assigned but are never used hence
they are redundant and can be removed.

Cleans up clang warnings:
warning: variable 'slope' set but not used [-Wunused-but-set-variable]
warning: variable 'offset' set but not used [-Wunused-but-set-variable]
