We are currently cutting hva_to_pfn_fast short if we do not want an immediate exit, which is represented by !async && !atomic. However, this is unnecessary, and __get_user_pages_fast is *much* faster because the regular get_user_pages takes pmd_lock/pte_lock. In fact, when many CPUs take a nested vmexit at the same time the contention on those locks is visible, and this patch removes about 25% (compared to 4.18) from vmexit.flat on a 16 vCPU nested guest. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
