commitf2e9535589upstream. udf_setsize() called truncate_setsize() with i_data_sem held. Thus truncate_pagecache() called from truncate_setsize() could lock a page under i_data_sem which can deadlock as page lock ranks below i_data_sem - e. g. writeback can hold page lock and try to acquire i_data_sem to map a block. Fix the problem by moving truncate_setsize() calls from under i_data_sem. It is safe for us to change i_size without holding i_data_sem as all the places that depend on i_size being stable already hold inode_lock. Linux kernel ============ This file was moved to Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst Please notice that there are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
